January 2009

Mr Bendy MDF says
welcome to 2009...

...mesmerised by the number nine? Is there something magical about it? There were 9 Worthies including Alexander the Great, 9 muses including Terpsichore, Muse of Dance and 9 planets orbit the sun.  In 1509 King Henry VIII came to the throne; in 1409 the English captured Harlech, at last; in 1209 King John was excommunicated as a robber of church property.  And what might 2009 be remembered for?!

Last month you saw his feet...

...this month it’s his face.  Nice to put a face to the feet of Paul Murphy who is Mr NeatPaint’s new KTP Associate.  Here he is, head down beavering away searching for ways to promote Mr NeatPaint’s wares: looking for new finishes, new curing methods and plenty else.  Knowledge Transfer Partnership is partly funded by the British government and is a partnership between Mr NeatPaint, Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe and our Associate.  It lasts for 2 years and the associate is charged with bringing knowledge and commercial benefits to the company.  Paul spends most of his time with Mr NeatPaint and at other times consults his academic supervisors at the university and attends courses on project management, for example.  Please contact him for paint inspiration.

Mr NeatRout is here...
...revived and animated.  After a fallow period, routed screens for radiators, rooms, offices and as a part of an acoustic system schools are all the rage.  Last month the school application was publicised in NeatNews and is now installed where it hides a raft of Rockwool acoustic insulation material.  Mr NeatRout’s material is 12mm fire retardant MDF – and he has never routed FR material before.  Usually the products are from standard Medite MDF in thicknesses from 4mm and in the range of patterns as seen on Mr Bendy MDF’s website.

A January Saint, especially for a cold month... the Patron Saint of Chilblains...
...St Basilissa, 4th century, who turned her home into a hospital which could cater for 1,000 patients.  Her home was in Egypt and she shared it and her work of healing the poor with her husband, St Julian, in a state of perpetual chastity.  The Egyptian climate
doesn’t seem ideal for a study if chilblains?
